THE NBI – Batangas District Office (NBI- BatDO) arrested a certain “Azis ” in Batangas City, Batangas for violation of Republic Act 9208, as amended by Republic Act 10364 and Republic Act 11862 otherwise known as the “Expanded Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act of 2022”. The entrapment operation also resulted in the rescue of six (6) victims, including three (3) minors.
The operation stemmed from an information that the Subject was engaged in human trafficking of minors within the province of Batangas, particularly in Lipa City.
The Subject offers male and female victims including minors for sexual exploitation in exchange for a fee ranging from Php 2,000.00 – Php 8,000.00 pesos. Acting on the said information, a rescue and entrapment operation was hatched by NBI-BATDO Agents, in coordination with the Department of Justice – Inter-Agency Council Against Trafficking (DOJ-IACAT) and Office of the City Social Welfare – Batangas City and NBI-Human Trafficking Division (HTRAD) to augment the operation.
Subject agreed with the undercover agents to transport and deliver the victims from Lipa City to Batangas City with the purpose of sexual exploitation. On February 18, 2025, the Subject arrived at the agreed place together with victims where the sexual exploitation will happen.
Thereafter, Subject offered the six (6) victims to the undercover agents and received the pre-marked entrapment money.
After the transaction has been completed, NBI-BatDO and HTRAD Agents declared their authority under the law and arrested the Subject and rescued all the victims.
The victims were assessed by the Social Welfare Officers and were eventually turned over to the custody of DOJ-IACAT Tahanan ng Inyong Pag-Asa (TIP) Center for processing.
The arrested Subject was presented for Inquest Proceedings for violation of the aforementioned law before the Office of the City Prosecutor – Batangas.
