EIGHTY-SIX persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) and prison personnel in Zamboanga City have registered for the on-site satellite registration for the October 2023 barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections.
The local Commission on Elections led the registration at the San Ramon Prison and Penal Farm in Zamboanga City on January 11.
Of the 86 individuals, 73 of were PDLs, five Bureau of Corrections employees, and eight civilians.
Last week, some 3,000 PDLs from the New Bilibid Prison in Muntinlupa City took part in the two-day special satellite registration.
Several hundreds more are expected to follow suit from other prison facilities under the Bureau of Corrections.
Apart from San Ramon Prison and Penal Farm and the National Bilibid Prison, the other BuCor facilities are the Iwahig Prison and Penal Farm in Palawan, Correctional Institution for Women in Mandaluyong City, Sablayan Prison and Penal Farm in Oriental Mindoro, Davao Prison and Penal Farm in Davao del Norte, and Leyte Regional Prison in Southern Leyte.
