SOME 900 qualified students in Tolosa, Leyte received P5,000 in educational assistance.
House Speaker Martin Romualdez led the distribution of the cash aid to the students at the Tolosa Civic Center, assisted by Tolosa Mayor Erwin Ocaña, Vice Mayor Menardo Mate, and the DSWD represented by Raquel Bateo.
Other Tolosa local officials were present to witness the aid distribution.
In his brief message to the Tolosa students, Romualdez noted that the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) is among the social programs of President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr..
Earlier, some 2,000 youth beneficiaries in Tacloban City received P500 financial assistance through the AICS program.
The release of the P10 million cash aid was also facilitated by Speaker Romualdez, and Tingog Reps. Yedda Romualdez and Jude Acidre.
Rep. Romualdez, chairperson of the House Committee on Accounts, vowed that Tingog would continue to deliver directly, or indirectly through government agencies such as the Department of Social Welfare and Development(DSWD), services to the people of Eastern Visayas and Leyteños and Samareños in other parts of the country.
Meanwhile, Speaker Romualdez also said there are more development plans for the Eastern Visayas and nearby areas.
