SA utos ni Speaker Ferdinand Martin G. Romualdez, naghain ng resolusyon si House Deputy Majority Leader Erwin Tulfo at apat pang mambabatas para imbestigahan ang nangyaring pambubugbog sa 17-taong gulang na babae na taekwondo newbie sa kaniyang training sa Bocaue, Bulacan.
Ang House Resolution No. 1670 ay isinumite nitong Miyerkules ni Tulfo at kanyang mga kasamahan sa sina ACT-CIS partylist Reps. Edvic Yap at Jocelyn Tulfo, Benguet Cong. Eric Go Yap, at Quezon City 2nd District Rep. Ralph Wendell Tulfo.
Ayon kay Tulfo, naghain sila ng resolution matapos matanggap ni Speaker Romualdez ang ulat, na nagtamo ng mga pasa at sugat ang 17-anyos na yellow belter na babae matapos itong payagang mag-sparring ng kanyang coach sa isang lalaki na mas mataas sa kanya at black belter sa taekwondo.
“The circumstances surrounding this incident raise serious concerns about the safety protocols, supervision, and regulations within the Taekwondo community, particularly regarding the appropriateness of match-ups between practitioners of different skill levels during training sessions,” said the resolution.
“The safety and well-being of athletes, especially minors, should be paramount in any sporting activity, and coaches and trainers have a duty of care to ensure that training sessions are conducted in a manner that minimizes risks of injury or harm,” dagdag pa nito.
Sa pahayag, sinabi ni Rep. Erwin Tulfo, na gustong matukoy ni Speaker, kung sino ba ang mga nagbabantay at tumitingin sa mga training sessions, hindi lamang sa Taekwondo kundi maging sa ibang sports.
“Lalo na ngayon, maraming summer classes sa iba’t ibang klaseng sports, hindi lang sa taekwondo, pero maging sa basketball, swimming, football, tennis, at iba pa. Gustong malaman ni Speaker Romualdez, kung sino ang nagbabantay sa mga ito para masigurong ligtas ang mga nagte-training na karamihan ay mga menor de edad? Paano natin masisiguro ang kaligtasan nila?” Ani Tulfo.
Nakalagay din sa resolusyon na ang imbestigasyon ay naglalayong ma-review at maevaluate ang mga existing regulations, practices, and standards sa mga Taekwondo community.
“It is imperative to ensure accountability and transparency in the sports sector,
particularly in matters concerning the safety and welfare of athletes, coaches, and
stakeholders involved in sports development and promotion,” said the resolution.
