IN a significant stride towards revolutionizing science education, two high schools in Cavite have eagerly embraced the Versatile Instrumentation System for Science Education and Research (VISSER), a cutting-edge initiative introduced through the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) on May 20, 2024.
Cavite Science Integrated School (CSIS) and Bucal National Integrated School (BNIS) proudly stand as the pioneering institutions to receive the VISSER kit, with a momentous deployment and training ceremony taking place at CSIS. This event marked a monumental leap forward in the schools’ endeavor to foster dynamic and innovative learning environments.
Renowned for its adaptability and comprehensive suite of instruments, the VISSER system aims to invigorate the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) strand, empowering students to delve into various scientific disciplines with confidence and curiosity.
The turnover ceremony and Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) signing witnessed the collaboration of key stakeholders, including representatives from the Maragondon Local Government Unit (LGU), DOST-CALABARZON, Cavite Provincial S&T Office, Department of Education (DepEd) Cavite, CSIS, and BNIS. The event underscored a shared commitment to advancing science education in the region.
Expressing optimism, Director Emelita P. Bagsit of DOST-CALABARZON stated that the VISSER equipment would make science more engaging and accessible, offering students a remarkable opportunity to explore the world and envision ambitious futures.
Dr. Riza O. Soberano, Education Program Supervisor for Science at DepEd-Cavite, emphasized that VISSER would enhance students’ competencies, enabling them to compete on an international level. Quality education creates quality learners; remarked Mr. Antonio P. Faustino Jr., OIC- Assistant Schools Division Superintendent (ASDS) at DepEd-Cavite, highlighting his endorsement of the program.
The training session, led by Ms. Rica Allana Tarita from Making.technology, the developer of VISSER, aimed to equip educators and students with the necessary skills to harness the full potential of the kits. Through hands-on activities and interactive demonstrations, participants familiarized themselves with VISSER's functionalities, spanning from fundamental measurement techniques to advanced data analysis methods.
The collaborative effort between BNIS and CSIS signifies a collective dedication to raising the standard of science education regionally. Leveraging the power of VISSER, both institutions are poised to cultivate the next generation of scientists, engineers, and innovators, equipping them with the expertise to thrive in an increasingly complex and interconnected world.
By the conclusion of the VISSER deployment and training, significant milestones were achieved, including the deployment of VISSER units to both schools and the upskilling of thirteen teachers. Moreover, VISSER promises to enhance learning experiences by providing practical, hands-on applications of scientific concepts.
With VISSER at their disposal, these high schools in Cavite are primed to ignite a passion for science and innovation, nurturing the leaders and problem-solvers of tomorrow.
