MEMBERS of the House of Representatives on Sunday described the presence of 167 lawmakers in the recent Bagong Pilipinas Serbisyo Fair (BPSF) held in Tagum City, Davao del Norte an “unprecedented show of unity” with the appearance of former President and Pampanga Rep. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.
“Buhay na buhay ang Uniteam sa Tagum City, Davao del Norte! What we have seen is an unprecedented show of unity among lawmakers for a program that highlights our commitment to bringing essential government services directly to the people, ensuring that no Filipino is left behind,” said Davao Oriental Rep. Cheeno Miguel Almario, who was one of the 167 lawmakers present in BPSF Davao del Norte last June 7.
A total of P913 million worth of government services and financial assistance were rolled out to a total of 250,000 residents in Davao del Norte, also the biggest number of beneficiaries recorded in all of the 19 installments of the BPSF.
BPSF, a primary program spearheaded by President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. and Speaker Ferdinand Martin G. Romualdez, has been instrumental in delivering financial aid, livelihood assistance, and other critical government services to various regions and provinces.
“The fair in Davao del Norte is a testament to the Marcos administration’s dedication to serving its citizens and the efforts of the House of Representatives under Speaker Romualdez in fostering national development through direct engagement and support,” Almario said.
Zambales Rep. Doris “Nanay Bing” E. Maniquiz, also present in the two-day Serbisyo Caravan, said the attendance of 167 members of the House of Representatives in Davao del Norte is an inspiring show of unity among members of the House, citing the remarkable turnout of beneficiaries.
“During the event, we witnessed firsthand the positive impact of government welfare and social amelioration programs on the lives of Filipino families. Direktang tulong po ito, walang dinadaanang red tape o middlemen. Ramdam na ramdam ng mamamayan ang tulong mula sa pamahalaan,” Maniquiz said.
She added that the BPSF showcased how legislative policies on the national budget, especially the ones for “ayuda,” are effectively translated into tangible benefits for the people, reinforcing the importance of their work in Congress.
“This gathering marks the largest attendance of House members at a BPSF event, underscoring the significance of unity and cooperation in achieving our national goals. Our presence in Davao del Norte not only demonstrates our support for the program but also our commitment to public service and community engagement,” Maniquiz said.
Manila Rep. Ernesto Dionisio, who was also present during the BPSF in Davao del Norte, said that he has personally seen how the BPSF serves as a crucial platform for connecting government services with the needs of the people.
“At dahil inilalapit natin ang mga serbisyo ng pamahalaan direkta sa mamamayan, mas nasosolusyunan natin ang kanilang pangangailangan. We are proud to be part of an initiative that directly benefits our constituents and showcases the government’s dedication to improving the quality of life for all Filipinos,” Dionisio said.
“The fair’s success in Davao del Norte reflects the positive outcomes of our collective efforts. Nakaka-inspire pong malaman na ang lahat ng pagsisikap natin sa Kongreso ay nagtra-translate sa totoong tulong sa ating mga kababayan,” he added.
