THE House Committee on Dangerous Drugs’ decision to allow dismissed Police Col. Eduardo Acierto to appear in the hearing is an offshoot of the earlier findings that at least two corporations of which Michael Yang is an incorporator has relations with the Empire 999 corporation which owns the warehouse in Mexico, Pampanga where 560 kilos of shabu were delivered upon the instructions of its “contacts”.
A member of the committee inquired during the previous hearings if Acierto may be invited to share what he knows, if any, about Michael Yang’s illegal drug connections and activities for the committee to ascertain whether the Michael Yang as incorporator of the two corporations is the same Michael Yang mentioned by Acierto in his Senate testimonies and social media interviews. Upon proper motion, an invitation was extended to Acierto.
The committee had no prior knowledge of what he will disclose. In the spirit of fairness and due process, the committee allowed the appearance in order to get a full picture of the situation and may thus make a proper evaluation of its value.
“The committee will not make any judgment on the narrative of Col. Acierto. We just listened to it, vet it and will weigh its value when we craft the committee report,” said Barbers, chairman of the committee.
The committee is trying to establish the links between and among corporations found to have interlocking incorporators, with the company of Chinese national Willie Ong, Empire 999, owner of the warehouse in Mexico, Pampanga where the 560 kilos of shabu were ordered delivered last year.
When Michael Yang’s name surfaced, Acierto’s name was mentioned as the latter had figured prominently in 2017 in the illegal drug controversy when he named Michael Yang as an alleged drug lord. This recollection prompted some members to invite Acierto for the committee’s benefit.
Should the committee find any link between and among the incorporators of these various corporations, the apt recommendations will be endorsed to the proper government agencies, through its committee report.
