SPEAKER Ferdinand Martin G. Romualdez on Sunday paid tribute to Filipino fathers, calling them the “foundation of our families and the heart of our communities,” as the country marked Father’s Day.
In a heartfelt message, Speaker Romualdez described Filipino fathers as silent heroes who rise each day with the simple but powerful goal of giving their children a better life.
“This Father’s Day, I honor the quiet strength and everyday heroism of Filipino fathers. These are the men who rise each morning with a single goal in mind: to build a better life for their children,” said the leader of the 306-member House of Representatives.
He added: “As a father, I know the deep responsibility that comes with that role. I understand the long days, the sleepless nights, and the unwavering hope we carry for our families. I have felt the joy of small moments with my children and the worry that comes with every challenge they face.”
Speaker Romualdez also reflected on the influence of his own father, whose example of humility, service, and patriotism continues to guide his work in public service.
“I also remember my own father, whose values of humility, service, and love for country shaped the man I am today. His guidance continues to inspire me in my work for the Filipino people,” the House chief said.
“Fatherhood, after all, is not just about providing. It is about building a future our children can stand on with pride,” he stressed.
The Speaker extended his appreciation to all fathers—whether at home or working abroad—for their sacrifices and steadfast love.
“To all Filipino fathers, whether here at home or working far from your loved ones, whether leading from the front or standing quietly in support—you are the foundation of our families and the heart of our communities,” Speaker Romualdez said.
“Thank you for your sacrifices. Thank you for your strength. Thank you for your love. Happy Father’s Day!” Speaker Romualdez concluded.
