CALAMBA CITY, Laguna — TWO people were killed after a motorcycle collided with a Philippine National Railways (PNR) train in Barangay Bucal on Tuesday afternoon.
Initial police reports said the motorcycle attempted to cross the railway tracks despite the presence of barangay traffic enforcers and marshals in the area. The rider reportedly ignored warnings and refused to stop, leading to the fatal crash with the southbound train.
The impact threw the victims off the motorcycle, causing fatal injuries. Emergency responders rushed to the scene, but both were declared dead on the spot. Their identities remain withheld pending notification of their families.
Authorities are investigating the incident, including whether the railway crossing had functioning warning signals or barriers at the time.
The PNR reiterated its call for motorists and pedestrians to exercise caution and strictly observe safety protocols when crossing train tracks to avoid similar tragedies.
