A STRONG show of local government support marked the provincial launching of the Measles-Rubella Supplemental Immunization Activity (MRSIA) 2026 in Bacnotan, La Union, on August 12, 2026, as the Department of Health (DOH) Ilocos Region rallied local governments and communities behind one urgent goal: protect every child through vaccination.
The event was participated by LGUs, health workers, community leaders, and partners, whose collective efforts are expected to drive the region toward the 95 percent vaccination target. More than 200 toddlers wer vaccinated during the launching activity held at the Bacnotan Town Plaza.
“We are one with our LGUs in this campaign. The DOH Ilocos Region will continue to stand with you, support your health workers, and work with our communities until we reach our 95 percent target,” OIC – Assistant Regional Director Rosario P. Pamintuan stated.
“The 95% vaccination target is not just a number, these are children, families, and communities that we want to keep safe from measles and rubella,” she emphasized.
Pamintuan also issued a strong reminder to parents and guardians to make health decisions based on verified, science-based information.
“Makinig lang po tayo sa mga tamang impormasyong galing sa DOH, sa ating mga health professionals at huwag maniniwala sa mga kumakalat na fake news. Do not let misinformation put your children at risk. When it comes to your child’s health, choose facts. Choose protection. Choose vaccination,” Pamintuan stressed.
The La Union Provincial Health Office called on parents and guardians to bring their eligible children 6-59 months old to designated vaccination sites and ensure that they receive the recommended measles-rubella vaccine during the campaign.
“Proteksiyonan po natin ang ating mga anak laban sa sakit. At ang pinakamabisang paraan ay ang pagbabakuna. Give our children and the protection they need. Let us work together, trust our health professionals, vaccines are safe, they are free and they surely save lives,” La Union Provincial Health Officer II Herminigildo M. Velasco said.
With the strong backing of LGUs and communities across the region, the DOH Ilocos Region remains confident that MRSIA 2026 can reach more children, prevent more cases, and bring the region closer to a safer and healthier future.
