COMPANIES under the SM Group garnered 15 Philippine Quill Awards, including six Excellence Awards, for communications programs covering community engagement, customer service, financial education, investor relations and digital communications.
The awards were received by SM Investments Corporation and several companies across the group, including SM Foundation Inc., SM Supermalls, BDO Unibank Inc., China Banking Corporation and Signature Series by SM Residences.
“Good communication helps people understand what our businesses do and why it matters to them,” SM Investments President and Chief Executive Officer Frederic C. DyBuncio said.
He said the awards reflect the group’s efforts to communicate effectively with its customers, investors, business partners and communities.
SM Foundation led the group’s awardees with four recognitions, including three Excellence Awards. Its “Utilizing Social Good as a Force for Transformation” campaign received Excellence Awards for Community Relations and Corporate Social Responsibility.
Its “#SpreadingSocialGood Stories Online: Transforming Lives Through Heartfelt Storytelling” campaign also won an Excellence Award for Social Media, while its social good report was recognized under the Publications category.
SM Foundation Executive Director Debbie Sy said effective communication helps amplify the impact of development programs by connecting communities with opportunities, giving people a voice and strengthening partnerships.
BDO Unibank also received four awards, three of them Excellence Awards. Its campaigns “Life Insurance: The Key to Heaven?” and “Tuloy ang Plano: Making Plan B a Family Necessity” were recognized under Marketing, Advertising and Brand Communication.
The bank’s “Your Child’s Dreams Need a Plan B” received an Excellence Award for Audio/Visual Communication, while BDO Remit’s “Alagang Kabayan: Where Every Kabayan Belongs” was recognized under Social Media.
SM Investments was also recognized for SM In Focus, its group-wide online communications channel that uses YouTube, Facebook, Instagram and TikTok to provide timely and relevant information on the group’s operations and impact.
SM Supermalls received three awards for Active Hub, Mindanao and International Coastal 2025, both recognized for their community relations and corporate social responsibility initiatives.
“Our programs begin with understanding what our customers and communities need,” SM Supermalls President Steven Tan said, adding that communication allows the company to listen, respond and improve its services.
China Banking Corporation received two awards. Its “Investor Relations: Focused on Value” campaign was recognized for Financial Communication and Investor Relations, while its “My CBC Campaign: An App Fit for Beauty Queens” won under Marketing, Advertising and Brand Communication.
Signature Series by SM Residences was also recognized for “Setting a New Mark in Premium Residential Living” under Marketing, Advertising and Brand Communication.
The Philippine Quill Awards, organized by the International Association of Business Communicators Philippines (IABC Philippines), recognize outstanding communication programs and practices across organizations in the country.
This year’s winners were selected from more than 800 entries, which were evaluated based on IABC standards.
