A FORMER teacher and her three-year-old daughter on Monday died after they were trapped in their burning house in Bacolod City.
City Fire Marshal Chief Inspector Stephen Jardeleza identified the fatalities as 35-year-old ex-teacher Mengel Itchon, and her daughter Jhanella, of Bgy. Taculing, Bacolod City.
Itchon stopped from teaching after she suffered from a stroke.
Arturo Aplacador, the 84-year-old neighbor of the victims, suffered burnt wounds.
An investigation showed the fire broke out from the house of a neighbor past 8 a.m. on Monday in Purok Bayanihan, Bgy. Taculing.
The blaze immediately spread to the nearby houses made up of light materials, including that of the Itchons.
According to some witnesses, the child tried to grab her mother out of the burning house but she told her daughter to go out first.
The child did not leave her mother until they were both trapped inside the house.
The fire , which was put out at 9:13 a.m. of the same day, destroyed at least seven houses .
