POLICE Regional Office 3 director Brig. Gen. Jose Hidalgo Jr. said more former members of the communist terrorist groups (CTGs) voluntarily surrendered while several other supporters returned to the fold of the law amid the continuous police-community peace building activities and special intelligence driven operations of the Central Luzon police.
In Aurora, two former members of the underground mass organizations BATARIS and Samahang Kabataan ng Aurora identified as “Ka Rubie” and “Bigboy” surrendered to joint operatives of the 1st and 2nd Provincial Mobile Force Company (PMFC) and the Aurora Police Provincial Office (PPO).
“Ka Rubie” and “Bigboy” turned over one cal. .38 revolver, three live bullets, two high explosives, an improvised firearm, one piece detonating cord, a blasting cap and subversive documents.
In Bataan, former CTG member “Ka Elmer” yielded to joint personnel of the 2nd PMFC and the Bataan PPO, along with an improvised shotgun, two live bullets and one 40mm high explosive.
Three members of the Gabriela Women’s Party promised their allegiance back to the government and turned in one cal. .38 revolver.
In Nueva Ecija, 65-year-old “Ka Leo,” a farmer residing in Lupao, surrendered and turned-in one cal. .38 revolver while 20 members of the Liga ng Manggagawang Bukid (LMB) and three from Alyansa ng Mamamayang Nagkakaisa (ALMANA) withdrew their support to the CPP-NPA. Elements of the 2nd and 1st PMFC, Nueva Ecija police and other concerned police units facilitated their return to the fold of the law.
In Olongapo City, a former Bagong Hukbong Bayan member identified as “Ka Otso” yielded to authorities and turned-in one cal. .38 revolver, one hand grenade, two blasting caps and a military time fuse.
In Tarlac, Santa Ignacia and Capas police facilitated the surrender of “Ka Efren,” a former member of the Militia ng Bayan, in Bgy. Poblacion, East Santa Ignacia.
“Ka Efren” also handed over a cal. .45 pistol.
Meanwhile, the 1st PMFC and 2nd PMFC, and the Zambales police , with other concerned units, facilitated the surrender of two former members of the Militia ng Bayan identified as “Ka Alex” and “Ka Noel.”
“Ka Noel” surrendered a cal. .38 revolver and one dynamite with time fuse.
“I am urging those who are still actively fighting the government to lay down their arms and embrace other peaceful means. Our government has several programs to retool you so that you could all become even more productive members of our society,” Hidalgo said.
