IN a sweeping crackdown against colorum vans, buses, and other public utility vehicles (PUVs), operators, drivers have been levied with a total of P1.2 million in penalties for the 1st week of January ( from Jan 05-09) 2024.
The Anti-Colorum campaign, operationalized by the Special Action and Intelligence Committee for Transportation (SAICT), in collaboration with the Land Transportation Office – Philippines (LTO), and the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG).
The substantial fines of P200K per van and P1M per bus imposed on offenders reflect the government’s unwavering commitment to prioritizing road safety for all commuters.
Under the direction of Transportation Secretary Jaime Bautista, the recent campaign targeted unauthorized PUVs with the sole purpose of safeguarding the welfare of road users.
The DOTr anticipates that more illegal and unregistered vehicles will be exposed as their intensified campaign continues.
To this end, SAICT is urging the public to report any suspicious or unauthorized transportation services to the _DOTr Commuter Hotline 0920-964-3687, contributing to the overall efforts in dismantling the colorum network in the metropolis.
