
AN incumbent barangay chairman was shot dead by motorcycle-riding gunmen in Taal, Batangas.
Killed was Erasmo Divino Hernandez, the village chief of Bgy. Poblacion, Zone 10 in Taa.
Batangas Police Provincial Director Col. Samson Belmonte immediately formed a Task Force to solve the killing of Hernandez.
Belmonte rushed to Taal with Police Regional Office 4A (Calabarzon) Director Brig. Gen. Carlito Gaces after learning of the incident.
The village chief was sitting in front of the barangay hall when two armed men on a motorcycle arrived over and shot him several times using a cal. 45 pistol at 7:20 a.m. yesterday.
The gunmen escaped towards Sta. Teresita Batangas.
Hernandez was rushed to Lemery Doctors Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.
Reports showed the slain barangay captain was about to run for a second term in the upcoming barangay elections on October 30.
