A barangay chairman on Tuesday was gunned down in San Fernando City, Pampanga.
Police Regional Office 3 director Brig. Gen. Cesar Pasiwen identified the victim as Jesus Liang, 63, barangay captain of Sto. Rosario, in San Fernando City.
Liang was walking on Abad Santos St. near the City Market Plaza when a man armed with a gun suddenly appeared and shot him in the head.
Liang died on the spot.
“I have ordered an in-depth probe into the incident and we are looking into all angles to establish possible motives,” said Pasiwen.
“We are exerting all means to get into the bottom of this unfortunate incident and we are now in the process of gathering pieces of evidence that will lead us to the identification of the culprit,” he added.
Pasiwen offered condolences and assured the victim’s family that justice will be served.
The Central Luzon top cop urged witnesses to the crime to come forward and report to the nearest police station.
