BIÑAN CITY, Laguna —CITY officials formally introduced the Biñan Access Plus Card during a press conference held at the Centro ng Kultura ng Biñan, marking one of the highlight initiatives as the city opened its Araw ng Biñan 2026 celebrations on Monday, February 2.
Mayor Gel Alonte led the presentation of the new program, joined by Vice Mayor Dada Reyes and Representative Atty. Arman Dimaguila.
The Access Plus Card is among the priority projects of the city government and was launched in time for the celebration of Biñan’s 16th Cityhood Anniversary, 81st Liberation Day, and 279th Foundation Commemoration.
The festivities officially commenced with an Opening Ceremony and a colorful Grand People’s Parade, spearheaded by Mayor Angelo Alonte, alongside Vice Mayor Jonalina Reyes and Rep. Dimaguila. Thousands of residents from various sectors filled the streets in a show of unity and pride, including World War II veterans, city hall employees, civic and private organizations, and students from schools and universities across Biñan.
The city government has lined up a series of activities running until February 4, featuring Cultural Night, an Awards Night honoring individuals who have contributed to the city’s growth and reputation, and a Ceremonial March from Carmona to Biñan to commemorate the city’s historic fight for freedom.
Other activities include the Arts Month Exhibition, Drum and Bell Competition, Folk Dance Festival, housing unit inaugurations and turnovers, a Public Service Caravan, the Biñan Memory Project: Elders’ Oral History Forum, and the much-anticipated Araw ng Biñan Concert.
Araw ng Biñan has continued to earn national acclaim, having been recognized as one of the Best Tourism Events in the Philippines under the Historical Commemoration category by the ATOP–Department of Tourism Pearl Awards.
The recognition underscores Biñan’s ongoing efforts to honor its heritage while celebrating progress, service, and community pride.
