THE Calamba Medical Center (CMC) Cancer Center will celebrate World Cancer Day on February 4 by launching a pivotal initiative aimed at closing the cancer care gap in our community. The center will offer free cancer screenings and educational sessions at the Light Industry and Science Park 1 (LISP 1) in Cabuyao, Laguna.
“This initiative is our way of honoring World Cancer Day and advancing our advocacy for wellness. We are providing free Cervical Cancer Screening test called Visual Inspection through Acetic Acid (VIA), breast examinations, and introducing a prostate cancer screening program for men,” stated by Dr. Arvin Baes, PhD, RN head of the CMC Cancer Center.
In addition to promoting early detection, the CMC Cancer Center proudly introduces its groundbreaking “No Balance Billing” program. This initiative empowers patients—regardless of gender—to access vital cancer treatments with absolutely no out-of-pocket expenses, relying solely on their PhilHealth coverage.
This program is a game changer for many, ensuring that even the most vulnerable can receive essential treatments like chemotherapy, surgery, radiotherapy, and brachytherapy without the burden of financial stress.
Dr. Baes noted that the No Balance Billing program is accessible to patients referred by government hospitals and institutions. The Cancer Center also welcomes guarantee letters to support those whose PhilHealth coverage falls short.
Furthermore, in a bold move to enhance its comprehensive cancer care offerings, CMC Cancer Center is set to unveil the first PET-CT scan facility in Calamba by mid-year. This development underscores the center’s commitment to delivering high-quality, accessible, and affordable cancer treatment.
“At Calamba Medical Center Cancer Center, we want our patients to know they are never alone in their journey. The same exceptional services and specialists found in Manila are now available right here in CALABARZON. We are dedicated to bridging the gap in cancer care, making advanced treatments accessible to everyone,” assured Dr. Baes.
With these initiatives, CMC Cancer Center is leading the way in cancer awareness, prevention, treatment and survivorship, ensuring that quality healthcare reaches those who need it most. Together, we can close the care gap in cancer—one community at a time.
Calamba Medical Center is part of the Metro Pacific Health, the biggest hospital network in the Philippines.
