A 31-YEAR-OLD Chinese businessman accused of sextortion was arrested by operatives of the Philippine National Police Anti-Cybercrime Group in Iloilo City.
Suspect Jack Liu was nabbed by agents of the Regional Anti-Cybercrime Unit 6 headed by Lt. Col. Artemio Ricabo.
Liu was caught following a complaint from his ex-lover.
An investigation showed that the suspect threatened to spread his ex-partner’s sex videos if she won’t sleep with him again.
It turned out that the woman decided to part ways with the accused last August due to his abusive behavior and frequent misunderstandings.
Ricabo said the victim, at first, was skeptic about the existence of their sex videos and decided to ignore her ex-lover’s threat until the suspect last October 12 sent a video clip of their sex videos to one of her friends.
Undercover officers from the RACU 6 conducted an entrapment, which led to the arrest of the suspect at around 8:40 p.m. on October 12.
Criminal charges for grave coercion in relation to Section 6 of Republic Act 10175 or the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012, RA 9995 or the Anti-Photo and Video Voyeurism Act of 2009, and RA 9262 or the Anti-Violence against Women and their Children Act of 2004 were filed against the suspect before the Iloilo City Prosecutor’s Office.
