Chinese drug trafficker nabbed,  P4-B shabu seized in Baguio

By Jun Talusan

ANTI-NARCOTICS operative yesterday arrested a top Chinese drug trafficker and seized some 575 kilograms of shabu worth nearly P4 billion in a raid in Baguio City.

Nabbed was  Ming Hui alias “Tan,” a 51-year-old chef from China.

Hui was arrested in an anti-narcotics raid at 035-A in Purok 4, Irisan, Baguio City at 8:55 a.m. yesterday.

The Cordillera Police Regional Office conducted the operation following an information from the Office of the PNP Deputy Chief for Operations and former National Capital Region Police Office director Maj. Gen. Jonnel C. Estomo.

The NCRPO Intelligence Division got a tip regarding the presence of a big-time foreign drug syndicate planning to distribute a huge volume of shabu in Metro Manila.

However, the syndicate changed its plan and instead brought the illegal drugs to Baguio City .

Officers, who were equipped with body-worn cameras, stormed the Chinese man’s residence on the strength of a search warrant for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 issued by Judge Rufus Malecdan Jr. of the Baguio City Regional Trial Court.

The raid resulted in the discovery of the huge volume of drugs and the arrest of the Chinese national believed to be among those who transported the shabu to Baguio City.

The arrested Chinese national and the recovered huge volume of shabu were brought to the Baguio City Police Station 9  for further investigation.

Police said the arrested Chinese will be facing non-bailable charges for illegal possession of prohibited drugs under Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
