A MOTORCYCLE-RIDING cop and a female kagawad on Friday was killed in a road accident in Bgy. Kanluran Mayao, Lucena City, Quezon.
City police chief Lt. Col. Erickson Roranes identified the fatalities as PSSg Rodante Madurog, 32, assigned at the Lucena City Police Station; and Amelita Alcala, 67, a barangay kagawad, of Bgy. Talipan, Pagbilao Quezon.
Alcala’s driver, tanod Romeo Reforsado, 46, of the same village, is being treated at the hospital.
Roranes said the road mishap occurred at 5 p.m. on Friday on Maharlika Highway in Bgy. Kanluran Mayao.
The tricycle driven by Reforsado overtook another vehicle in front and collided head on with the big bike driven by Madurog.
An investigation showed the cop victim was escorting a police patrol car driven by PSSg Denis Merca, with persons deprived of liberty, and were on their way to the BJMP District Jail in Pagbilao, Quezon when the accident occurred.
According to witnesses, the cop fell on the ground and was overran by the patrol car he was escorting while the female kagawad was thrown off the tricycle.
Reforsado will be charged with reckless imprudence resulting in double homicide and damage to property, Roranes said.
