
AGENTS of the Philippine National Police – Criminal Investigation and Detection Group arrested a Roman Catholic priest accused of mocking the apparitions of the Virgin Mary during a conference in Lipa City, Batangas.
Accused Fr. Winston Cabading of the Archdiocese of Manila Office of Exorcism was placed under arrest on the strength of a warrant for violation of Article 133 of the Revised Penal Code (offending religious feelings).
According to PNP-CIDG director Brig. Gen. Romeo M. Caramat Jr., the warrant of arrest was issued by Judge Madonna Echiverri of the Quezon City Regional Trial Court Branch 81 on May 8.
The court ordered an P18,000 bailbond for the temporary liberty of the priest.
Members of the CIDG Southern District Field Unit headed by Lt. Col. Niño Briones arrested Fr. Cabading inside the St. Mary Magdalene House in Caleruega Road in Bgy. Batulao , Nasugbu, Batangas.
The priest was brought to the CIDG Southern DFU for documentation pending his presentation to court.
