SEVEN terrorists on Sunday was killed in an encounter with commandos of the Philippine National Police-Special Action Force in Datu Paglas, Maguindanao del Sur.
PNP-SAF director Maj. Gen. Rudolph B. Dimas said two M-16 automatic rifles, three cal. .45 semi-automatic pistols, a homemade Uzi machine pistol and dozens of live ammunition and magazines were recovered at the clash site in Bgy. Dawawato in Datu Paglas town.
The commandos were armed with a search warrant for violation of Republic Act 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulations Act of 2013 issued by Judge Angelito Rasalan of the Maguindanao del Sur Municipal Trial Court.
Lawmen were met with gunfire prompting them to return fire.
The encounter led to the killing of the subject of the search warrant identified as Nasser Yossef Hussain alias “Tutin Usop” and Datdat Usop and their five other unidentified cohorts.
All were taken to the Sultan Kudarat Provincial Hospital in Isulan municipality, where an attending physician declared them dead upon arrival.
Dimas said the seven were members of a local terrorist group operating under the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF) Karialan Faction.
