TO enjoin the community and promote a safer and more sustainable activity to celebrate the holiday season, the Department of Health (DOH) – Ilocos Region together with the City Government of Dagupan conducted the “Paskuhan sa Barangay – The Search for the Pinaka-Bonggang Christmas Caroling” contest which was participated by elementary school learners from 19 barangays of the city.
The activity was conducted to essentially spread the Christmas message through community singing and caroling contests and enhance competitiveness among the residents of barangays thereby promoting camaraderie among themselves.
Participating barangays were enjoined to incorporate messages/themes from the Seven Healthy Habits into the lyrics of a popular Christmas carol and then post the video of the material to the barangay’s social media pages.
A total of 5 barangays were selected during the elimination to compete for the top three positions.
Regional Director Paula Paz M. Sydiongco extended her appreciation to the city government of Dagupan for their support and dedication to the successful conduct of the activity. “This activity has facilitated cooperation and solidarity through music not only among the residents in the barangay but also to the local officials who gave their support to their participants.”
“Sa patimpalak na ito ay isang halimbawa na sa pagtutulungan at pagkakaisa ng bawat isa ay mayroon tayong magagawang mabuti at kapaki-pakinabang na gawain at mabibigyan natin ang ating mga kabataan ng pagkakataong maipagdiwang ang kapaskuhan at bagong taon ng mapayapa, ligtas at malayo sa sakuna,” Sydiongco stated.
For the first place winner, Barangay Uno received ₱25,000 in cash prize; second place winner – Barangay Salapingao received ₱20,000, and third place winner – Barangay Lucao with ₱15,000 cash.
