Davao City flood victims get timely aid from Rep. Paolo Duterte

DAVAO City 1st District Rep. Paolo Z. Duterte aided on Friday, January 19, around 800 families here affected by flash floods and landslides amid the heavy downpour from the shearline weather system for the past few days.

Rep. Duterte, through the Pulong Pulong ni Pulong (PPP) program, managed the distribution of hot chicken arroz caldo (porridge) to 800 families from Matina Crossing, Catalunan, Bago Aplaya, Barangay 9-A, Barangay 2-A, Barangay 5-A, and Ma-a.

The First Congressional District Office personnel also distributed one pack of biscuits, fresh milk, and bottled mineral water to every family affected by the disaster. They also gave specific milk to children.

Flood victims in Barangay 5-A (Bankerohan), severely affected by flooding, received food packs with canned goods, alcohol, tissue and other necessities, and rice assistance. The lawmaker’s office assisted flood victims in its areas of responsibility (AOR).

“We visited the affected families in evacuation centers to check on them and to distribute food, water, and milk to families with children. We encourage our Dabawenyos to remain vigilant. Our office is within your reach, ready to rescue and respond,” Rep. Duterte said.

Rep. Duterte said that though the flooding has subsided, they continuously reach out to displaced families. He added that they are just waiting for the final list of the Davao City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO).

The CSWDO is conducting the master listing, validation, and assessment for the affected families. Its Child Development Workers also initiated “child-friendly spaces” to give psychosocial support to the children during the calamity.
