THE Department of Health (DOH) – Ilocos Region in collaboration with the local government of Agno, Pangasinan successfully conducted a one-day “Health and Wellness Fair” for residents to be well informed about the Seven (7) Healthy Habits of Health Promotion through a booth display and informative discussions held at the municipal auditorium on November 8, 2023,
Guest of Honor and Regional Local Health Support Division Chief Jimuel S. Cardenas said that the health department envisions a Healthy Pilipinas where healthy behaviors are the easier choice for everyone, every time, everywhere!
“Kaya namin ginagawa ang health and wellness fair upang maipaalam sa mga residente kung anu-ano ang mga seven (7) na healthy habits of Health Promotion at kung paano nila ito maisasama at maipapatupad sa kanilang araw-araw na pamumuhay.”
“We want everyone to be involved in promoting their own health, dahil sa ating sarili nagsisimula ang pagiging healthy. Everyday, we are faced with various health challenges. Minsan nakakalimutan na natin ang pag-eehersisyo dahil sa ating trabaho kaya tayo nagkakaroon ng excess weight sa katawan and that is why we are empowering our residents with the proper knowledge and ways to make healthier choices in their daily lives,” he stated.
The activity showcased seven (7) booths set-up by various barangays representing each of the seven (7) healthy habits including – Move More, Eat Right; Be Clean, Live Sustainably; Get Vaccinated; Don’t Smoke, Avoid Alcohol, Say No to Drugs; Care for Yourself, Care for Others; Practice Safe Sex; and Do No Harm, Put Safety First.
Free medical services such as blood screening, vaccination for children and adults, and Implanon insertion for women. Other services given free were haircuts, manicures, and pedicures.
Maintenance medicines and vitamins for children were also distributed during the fair.
Agno Mayor Gualberto R. Sison said that their local government is committed to the health and well-being of its citizens and continues to support and implement the health programs of the DOH.
“Lubos kaming nagpapasalamat sa DOH regional office at kami ang napiling pagdausan ng health and wellness fair. Napakaimportante na lahat tayo ay malusog at malayo sa sakit dahil isa ito sa mga aspeto ng isang maunlad at progresibong bayan.”
The “Health and Wellness Fair” is part of the DOH community health promotion playbook for the Month of November. It is an important avenue to share information with the local community on the seven (7) priority areas of health promotion.
