THE Department of Health (DOH) – Ilocos region turned over various assistive devices to persons with disabilities (PWD) in Binalonan, Pangasinan during the launching of the “Lab For All” (Libreng Laboratoryo, Konsulta, at Gamot Para sa Lahat” caravan yesterday, October 24, 2023 at the Ramon J. Guico, Sr. Sports and Civic Center.
A total of 100 wheelchairs, 50 foldable walkers, 50 crutches for adults, 6 crutches for pedia and 2 walkers for pedia were distributed to beneficiaries.
The activity, led by First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos, provided free consultations, x-ray, laboratory services and medicines to residents of Pangasinan.
“Ang proyekto pong ito ay kasama sa pangako ng ating Presidente Bong-Bong Marcos, na dalhin ang mga serbisyong pangkalusugan sa mga tao at huwag antayin na sila pa ang pumunta sa mga hospital upang magpagamot. And this caravan, with the support of other government agencies, will ensure that primary care and other government services will reach everyone in the provinces,” she stressed.
The regional office also provided 3,539 doses of HPV vaccine, 2800 doses of flu vaccine and 500 doses of pneumococcal vaccine.
Other logistics supplied were oral health packages, FP commodities, nutribox, herbmap, assorted spectacles and various maintenance medicines worth ₱1 million.
Regional Director Paula Paz M. Sydiongco said that they will continue to bring health services to the people, especially those in GIDAs to ensure that they receive the best health care.
“We are presently constructing various super health centers across the region that will soon cater to the health needs of the people to ensure that they will receive primary care services in their own locality.”
Among the DOH hospitals that participated and provided medical services were the Region 1 Medical Center and Conrado F. Estrella Trauma and Medical Center.
Other agencies present and provided support were the Department of the Interior and Local Government, Department of Social Welfare and Development, the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth), Public Attorney’s Office, Food and Drug Administration, the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority, Commission on Higher Education and the Department of Agriculture and the provincial government of Pangasinan.
