THE Department of Health (DOH) – Ilocos Region through the National Voluntary Blood Services Program (NVBSP), celebrated “World Blood Donor Day (WBDD) through “Daloy 2025”, a Fun Run campaign to raise awareness and highlight the importance of voluntary blood donation through community participation on June 14, 2025 at the City Plaza Auditorium, San Fernando City, La Union.
Regional Director Paula Paz M. Sydiongco said that the activity aims to provide recognition and appreciation to voluntary blood donors for their life-saving contributions. “We express gratitude to our donors for their active participation and continuous support to our blood donation program.”
“We also encourage everyone to voluntary donate blood to ensure a sufficient and safe blood supply in the region”, she stated.
The “Daloy 2025” was attended by various representatives from national government agencies, non-government organizations, local government units, and civil society groups.
After the fun run, a blood-typing activity was conducted to all participants to determine their blood type which is important for safe blood transfusions and organ transplants, ensuring compatibility between donor and recipient.
The “World Blood Donor Day” is celebrated every June 14 of the year countries around the world celebrate World Blood Donor Day (WBDD). This year’s theme, “Give blood, give hope: Together we save lives,” celebrates the strength of community and solidarity in saving lives by voluntary giving blood.
The campaign encourages regular donors to continue sharing and motivating healthy individuals, especially young adults, to become first-time donors.
