THE Department of Health (DOH) led by Undersecretary for the Universal Health Care – Health Services Cluster for Northern and Central Luzon (UHC-HSC Area I) Maria Rosario Singh-Vergeire formally opened the new Center for Disease Prevention and Control (CDPC) (Public Health Center) located at the Region 1 Medical Center (R1MC) Annex in Bonuan Binloc, Daguan City alongside the groundbreaking of the Multi-Purpose Building (Center for Cancer Patients) on February 13, 2024.
Vergeire said that the new facility will provide high-end diagnosis, treatment and therapeutic services in Region 1. “This is one of the main thrust of the DOH, establishment of specialty centers that will provide state-of-the-art medical services to the people in the provinces.
“This facility for infectious diseases shall provide a pandemic preparedness center, which will help support in investigating, monitoring and preventing future diseases that may occur,” she added.
The Public Health Center is a P20 million project funded through the DOH-Health Facility Enhancement Program (HFEP) with the support of Deputy Speaker Kristine Singson-Meehan of Ilocos Sur and Speaker Lord Allan Velasco of the House of Representatives.
Menwhile, a total of P49 million was allocated for the construction of the multi-purpose building which will become the center for cancer patients.
DOH – Ilocos Regional Director Paula Paz M. Sydiongco congratulated R1MC for its continuing effort of expanding its medical heath facilities to cater to the needs of the people of Pangasinan.
“The completion of this project is a testament of your unwavering commitment to provide the best care possible for all. Kailangang pagibayuhin natin at itaas ang antas ng ating mga pampublikong ospital upang makasabay sa mga makabagong pamamaraan ng panggagamot at mabigyan ng sapat at dekalidad na serbisyo ang bawat Pilipino,” Sydiongco emphasized.
Other distinguished guests who graced the event were 4th District Congressman Christopher De Venecia, Former Speaker, House of Representative Jose C. De Venecia, Former Congresswoman Gina De Venecia, Dagupan City Mayor Belen T. Fernandez and R1MC officials led by Medical Center Chief Joseph Roland O. Mejia, CMPS Arnel Gerard R. Gazmen and ManCom Member Michael Canto.
