
THE Department of Health (DOH) – Ilocos Region “PuroKalusugan” Program visited the municipalities of Pugo in La Union and Malasiqui in Pangasinan on September 27, 2024 and September 30, 2024, respectively, and provided primary care services to residents from various communities in the localities.
Various medical services, including laboratory services, medical consultation, vaccination, oral health, ECG, X-ray, ultrasound, and free medicines, were rendered to more than 1,500 residents in Pugo and 3,000 in Malasiqui, who availed of the free services. A total of 20 wheelchairs were also distributed for the two municipalities.
Regional Director Paula Paz M. Sydiongco assured that the program will continue to visit communities in other provinces to deliver health and medical services to improve the health and welfare of those unable to a visit health facility for medical consultation and treatment.
“Dala na namin ang mga primary care packages na kailangan ng mga tao upang sila ay mabigyan ng tamang pagsusuri sa kanilang kalusugan gaya ng nutrition services, immunization, oral health, family planning, at screening services para sa TB, HIV, Philippine Package of Essential Non-Communicable (PhilPEN) health risk assessment, cervical at breast cancer. Mayroon ding libreng gamot at maintenance medicines para sa mga nangangailangan.”
“Makikita natin na napakahalaga ng kalusugan sa ating mga kababayan dahil pumunta sila at sa ating programa kahit malakas ang ulan at may bagyo para lang makapag-pacheck up at makakauha ng libreng serbisyo at mga gamot,” Sydiongco added.
The PuroKalusugan program was planned and organized in coordination with the Office of Sen. Loren Legarda, with the primary objective of delivering essential healthcare services to the underserved communities of Pugo, La Union, and also to highlight and demonstrate the commendable contributions of the DOH Regional Office in improving public health standards within the region.
A total of P6 million budget was allocated for the two municipalities.
The Purokalusugan program in Pugo, La Union was conducted in partnership with the Provincial Government of La Union, the Provincial Health Office of La Union, and Ilocos Training and Medical Center which provided the necessary medical services.
The activity in Malasiqui, Pangasinan is in collaboration with the Provincial Government of Pangasinan, the Provincial Health Office of Pangasinan and the local government unit of Malasiqui, Pangasinan.
