THE Department of Health – Ilocos Region on Friday, February 8, 2024, formally turned over and inaugurated the “Super Health Center” located in Barangay Cabanbanan to the local government of Manaog in Pangasinan.
The construction of the phase 1 of the facility started last February 2023 with a project cost of 10 million pesos funded under the DOH Health Facility Enhancement Project – General Aapropriations Act of 2023. It was completed first week of February 2024.
Assistant Regional Director Rodolfo Antonio M. Albornoz who led the inauguration and blessing said that barangay residents, including nearby communities, can now avail of primary care services.
“Ang mga pasilidad po na ito ay isa sa mga priority infrastructure projects na nasa 8-point action agenda ng DOH upang mabigyan ng serbisyong pangkalusugan ang ating mga kababayan na nasa malalayong lugar gaya ng mga nakatira sa mga GIDA.”
“The super health centers are established in rural areas to decongest our public hospitals which are primary located in towns and cities. Ang mga low-risk, less serious at mga uncomplicated cases ay dito na dadalhin at pupunta upang magpahamot,” Albnornoz emphasized.
Under phase 1, a super health center can provide primary care services such as cancer screenings, cardiovascular health screenings, diabetes screenings, consultation and medication prescriptions, immunizations, minor surgical procedures, birth control services including ultrasounds.
For phase 2, diagnostic services and care will be available such as radiology, ultrasound, and laboratory tests.
Manaoag Mayor Jeremy Agerico B. Rosario said that the facility is a realization of his administration’s goal. “Health has always been our priority and with this super health center we can serve more people in our community.”
Rosario also assured that services of the rural health center in the town will continue to provide health services for the accessibility of patients and to complement the services of the super health center.
On the other hand, the DOH also marked the beginning of construction of the Sigay Super Health Center during a formal groundbreaking held on January 25, 2024.
The ceremony was led by Assistant Regional Director Rodolfo Antonio M. Albornoz and Municipal Mayor Carlo Crisanto Peredo together with Vice Mayor Dionisio Lang Ay Jr, Municipal Health Officer Jeybi Martin and LGU officials.
The facility will help provide health care services to the town of Sigay, a 5th class municipality in the mountainous province of Ilocos Sur.
