DURING the 4-day activities, Ms. Emelita P. Bagsit, Regional Director of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) CALABARZON, conducted project visits and benchmarking activity in Polillo and Burdeos, Quezon last May 21-24, 2024.
RD Bagsit visited the Polillo Central Elementary School (PCES) Mini Science Centrum, the first Mini Science Centrum in CALABARZON. Mr. Gilbert Rogado, Principal, and Ms. Nadia F. Camson, Mini Science Centrum Focal Person, had the opportunity to discuss the success of the science centrum and their sustainability plan during the meeting with RD Bagsit, Ms. Maria Esperanza E. Jawili, DOST Quezon Provincial Director, and Hon. Angelique Bosque, Polillo Municipal Mayor.
Possible upgrades of the museum-style project were also considered. In Brgy. Tamulaya-Anibong, Ms. Nory Ancheta, Treasurer of Tamulaya Anibong Nipanog Producers Association (TANPAS) welcomed the DOST CALABARZON and Quezon at their Nipanog Processing Facility. She highlighted the increase in income of their members as one of the many benefits of the distillation setup granted by the DOST.
Moreover, a benchmarking activity on deployable technologies like water desalination, ice making, solar drying and communication hub of One Renewable Energy Enterprise Inc.’ Facility in Brgy. Calutcot, Burdeos, Quezon was conducted.
With the assistance of Ms. Ellora Narida, One Renewable Project Manager, showed their technologies that can be replicated by DOST and deployed as S&T solutions for the geographically isolated and disadvantaged areas in the region.
