
LUCENA CITY- Quezon 1 Electric Cooperative, Inc. (Quezelco 1) based in Bgy. Poctol, Pitogo, Quezon on Thursday cut the power supply of Fin Fish Hatchery (FFH) in Bgy. Punta, Unisan , Quezon due to unpaid power bills which accumulated over P4 million.
The disconnection order was executed by the Engineering Department, with remarks “delinquent consumer” duly signed by Quezelco 1 officials Magene Grefalda, finance manager and acting general manager Victor Cada.
Earlier, Board member and Quezelco 1 legal counsel attorney Frumencio “Sonny” Pulgar had written a demand letter addressed to Gov. Danilo Suarez dated Jan. 6, 2022, asking the official to settle the obligations within five days or they shall initiate appropriate administrative, civil, and criminal actions.
According to Pulgar’s letter, the Suarez facility has a P4,530,276.09 outstanding obligation to Q1ECI as of January 12.
Meanwhile, Pulgar said according to the governor, the power usage of the Fin Fish Hatchery (FFH) in Bgy. Punta, Unisan, is covered by the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR).
The multi-species finfish hatchery, which was established by an NGO, UNLAD Quezon Foundation, aims to produce various fish fingerlings needed by fishermen and operators of mariculture parks in Quezon.
