OPERATIVES of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group on Saturday arrested in Dasmariñas City, Cavite a woman who gained notoriety for her involvement in “multiple sangla” scheme and defrauded nearly 40 victims of some P7.5 million.
Suspect Labliza Vasquez, a 37-year-old resident of Bgy. Sta. Fe Extension in Dasmariñas City, Cavite, was caught in an entrapment operation.
Cavite CIDG Provincial Field Unit chief Lt. Col. Bryan Dexter Andulan said Vasquez is facing charges for large-scale swindling/estafa.
Andulan said the victims accused the suspect of having defrauded them of some P7.5 million through the “multiple sangla” scheme.
The complainants said Vasquez offered them two stalls at the Dasmariñas City Public Market for mortgage.
However, it turned out that the accused gave the same offer to all of the victims and collected at least P7.5 million from them.
An investigation showed that the suspect lured the victims into entering a contract to lease the business stalls from her by presenting them fake business documents and other registration papers.
Last Saturday afternoon, the suspect was arrested in a sting at Blk. 8, Lot 26 in Bgy. San Manuel in Dasmariñas City.
Seized from the suspect were two marked P500 bills and a Certification of Market Administrator.
