OPERATIVES of the Philippine National Police – Anti-Cybercrime Group on Tuesday arrested a female scammer in Dasmariñas City, Cavite.
The 30-year-old woman from Bgy. Salitran in Dasmariñas City duped a 63-year-old woman of some P3 million.
Police said the suspect posed as a niece of the victim and sent messages saying she was arrested in Dubai and badly needed money to facilitate her return to Manila.
Thinking that it was really her niece, “Ellen Mae,” the old woman became worried and sent her money in several online transactions.
The victim said that she sent a total of P3 million to the suspect but later got suspicious when she received a phone call from a stranger who claimed he is a Dubai police officer named “Alla.” The man demanded an additional P50,000 from her.
Suspicious that she has fallen victim to a scam, the old woman sought the help of the Regional Anti-Cybercrime Unit 4-A of the PNP-ACG.
Operatives conducted an entrapment that led to the suspect’s arrest.
