AN 18-YEAR-OLD female student on Wednesday died while her 14-year-old male cousin was seriously injured in a stabbing incident in Biñan City, Laguna.
A report submitted to Laguna OIC Provincial Director Col. Randy Glenn Silvio identified the girl as Rochelle Ann Flores of Bgy. Langkiwa, Biñan City.
Flores sustained several stab wounds in the body. She was declared dead on arrival at Ospital ng Biñan by attending physician Dr. Katrina Mendoza Blanco.
Jimsher Soriaga, Flores’ cousin, who was also stabbed by the suspect , is being treated at Perpetual Help Hospital in Biñan City.
Biñan City police chief Lt. Col. Virgilio Jopia said suspect John Dave Bernabe , a canteen helper, was arrested in a follow-up operation in Parañaque City.
An investigation showed Bernabe broke the lock of the gate of the victims’ house and upon seeing Flores stabbed her repeatedly.
Soriaga, who tried to pacify Bernabe, was also stabbed by the suspect..
“Ayon sa aming imbestigasyon, ang biktima at suspect ay hiwalay na. Ang motibo sa krimen ay selos,” said Jopia.
Jopia said they will file murder and frustrated murder cases before the Biñan City Prosecutors Office against the suspect.
