AGENTS of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group-Cavite on Wednesday night arrested a foreign national following the seizure of more than P200,000 worth of fake cigarettes in a buy-bust operation in Bacoor City, Cavite.
A report submitted to Cavite Police Provincial Director Col. Christopher Olazo identified the arrested suspect as Aaron Lui Wong.
Authorities are verifying if Wong is a Chinese or a Korean national.
The sting was conducted at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday at the parking lot of SM City Bacoor in Bgy. Habay.
The CIDG men launched the entrapment following a complaint that a citizen who bought fake Marlboro and Phillip Morris suffered tightness in the chest after using the cigarettes.
Authorities immediately launched an entrapment.
Wong was arrested while selling Marlboro and Philip Morris cigarettes at the said parking lot.
Confiscated were 100 reams of Marlboro Red worth P160,000, 50 reams of Marlboro Gold worth P80,000, an Iphone 12 cellphone, and the buy-bust money.
The suspect’s Ford Ranger vehicle was impounded by the police.
Wong is facing charges for violation of Republic Act 8293 or the Intellectual Property Code of the Philippines
