
CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna – Members of a gun-for-hire group gunned down a village councilman in Tiaong, Quezon.
Based on a report submitted by Tiaong police chief Lt. Col. Marlon Cabataña to Police Regional Office 4A director Brig. Gen. Carlito M. Gaces, the victim was identified as Ricky Galangga, 44, a kagawad of Bgy. Cabay in Tiaong municipality.
One of the three suspects was arrested in a follow-up operation. His name was withheld as pursuit operations for the other suspects are ongoing.
According to Cabataña, one of the motorcycles used by the killers was recovered.
An investigation showed that Galangga was near a waiting shed in front of a barangay hall in Sitio Ilaya when motorcycle-riding armed men arrived and shot him repeatedly at close range.
Witnesses rushed the kagawad to the nearest hospital, where he died while undergoing treatment.
