TANAUAN City Hog Raisers Agriculture Cooperative (THRAC) in Tanauan City received technology training on meat processing and basic food hygiene in support of their pursuit to add a processed meat product line to their meat shop business, held at their production facility, Brgy. Talaga, Tanauan City, Batangas, Feb. 06.
The training was designed to equip the members of the cooperative with the necessary skills and knowledge on meat processing technologies. Through this training, the cooperative aims to meet the growing demand for processed meat in their local market and expand their business opportunities. The cooperative also hopes that by offering a wider range of products, they can increase their revenue and draw in more customers.

Technologies for processing meat products, such as tapa, tocino, longganisa, and siomai, were among the topics covered in the training. A discussion on basic food hygiene was also integrated into the training to ensure that the cooperative members understood the importance of proper food handling and sanitation practices in their meat processing operations. Participants had a hands-on activity on processing each product in strict compliance with food safety standards. Mr. John Maico M. Hernandez, Ms. Anna Marie M. Marasigan, and Ms. Renalee M. Leyesa, members of the DOST-CALABARZON Food Safety Team, facilitated the training.

Cooperative chairman, Mr. Vicente O. Valdez, thanked DOST-Batangas for their support in providing the necessary training to help them realize their planned addition of processed meat products to their product line.
