THE House of Representatives marked its 117th Anniversary with the formal launch of the month-long celebration of HRep Month 2024 on Tuesday afternoon.
The celebration had the theme “We Represent,” to underscore the thrust for inclusivity and quality public service among the House workforce.
Secretary General Reginald Velasco, in his opening remarks, congratulated the organizers and encouraged all staff to participate in the cluster-organized activities.
He thanked everyone for their hard work and dedication, and expressed gratitude to Speaker Martin Romualdez and Committee on Accounts chairperson Rep. Yedda Marie Romualdez of Tingog Party-list for their continued support for the House workforce.

The House workforce worked lockstep with the different Representatives as they finished a busy regular session, highlighted by marathon deliberations for the proposed 2025 national budget and the conduct of the high-profile joint hearings of the Committees on Dangerous Drugs, Public Order and Safety, Human Rights and Public Accounts, otherwise known as the House Quad Committee.
Congressional Staff Association president Vince Borneo delivered the welcome remarks during Tuesday’s opening ceremonies, emphasizing the importance of the House workforce’s collective role in facilitating the legislative process.
Borneo highlighted the need for inclusivity in this year’s celebration, noting that the festivities would bring “more innovation and more fun.”
The month-long celebration will feature different activities, such as webinars, one-stop shops, battle of the bands, health awareness activities, tournaments, art show and the awarding of winners from various games and activities, among others.
