
THE Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) has arrested a human trafficking suspect on board a RoRo/passenger vessel today, 11 November 2023.
The Coast Guard Sea Marshal Force Northern Mindanao based in Cagayan de Oro City, Misamis Oriental, coordinated with the Coast Guard Sea Marshal Unit NCR-Central Luzon regarding a passenger with an outstanding warrant of arrest on board M/V Maligaya bound for Manila.
At around 6PM on 10 November 2023, Coast Guard sea marshals on board MV Maligaya were informed regarding the report. They checked the passenger manifest and confirmed that the suspect was on board.
She was identified as Alissa May Ropenta alias “Ate Saysay” who was one of the two wanted individuals issued with a warrant of arrest by the Cagayan De Oro Regional Trial Court for Anti-Trafficking in Person.
At around 1AM today, 11 November 2023, Coast Guard sea marshals on board MV Maligaya coordinated with the captain and arrested the suspect — now detained and being monitored by a female vessel security personnel on board the vessel.
