
DOH-Ilocos Regional Director Winners of the “Search for the Outstanding Provincial BHW Federation” conducted by the Department of Health – Ilocos Region posts for posterity during the awarding ceremony held in San Fernando City, La Union on November 3, 2022.
San Fernando City, La Union – The Federated Barangay Health Workers (BHW) Association of Ilocos Sur, Inc. emerged as the grand prize winner during the “Search for the Outstanding Provincial BHW Federation Ceremony” conducted by the Department of Health – Ilocos Region in San Fernando City, La Union on November 3, 2022.
Regional Director Paula Paz M. Sydiongco said that the winners were selected through a set of criteria where the performance of each federation were monitored and evaluated by the regional office according to their performance.
“The performance-based incentive award is also a recognition of their valuable contribution in the delivery of primary health care services as frontliners and navigators in the implementation of the Universal Health Care.”
“Nagpapasalamat ako sa ating mga BHWs, sa kanilang walang sawang pagbibigay ng serbisyo sa komunidad. May you always be reminded that you mattered the most, because in the success of every health program, you are at the frontline,” Sydiongco emphasized.
The regional office gave away four major prizes including ₱75,000 for the third place – La Union BHW Federation; ₱100,000 for the second prize winner – Ilocos Norte BHW Federation, Inc.; ₱150,000 for the first prize – Federated BHW Association of Pangasinan, Inc.; and ₱175,000 for the grand prize winner.
The awarding of performance-based incentive to BHWs through their BHW federations are done annually to support their continuing development or income generating projects in their provinces.
Sydiongco encouraged BHWs to continue improving the health care system through community empowerment and responding and supporting the health needs of their constituents.
“The regional office shall continue to support you in all your undertakings in the fulfillment of your daily tasks,” Sydiongco concluded.
