The Ilocos Training and Regional Medical Center, one of the apex hospitals of the Department of Health – Ilocos Region was conferred Performance Governance Revalida (PGS) Compliant Status by the Institute for Solidarity in Asia (ISA) and bagged the prestigious Gold Trailblazer Award last January 27, 2023.
ISA conducted the online revalida, where ITRMC showcased its accomplishments and developments in the delivery of effective and reliable health care services in the region.
Among the ITRMC’s noteworthy accomplishments as an apex hospital includes the establishment of a health care provider network, five (5) PGLU district hospitals assisted in re-engineering and administrative controls during their retrofitting to cater to Covid 19 patients, 600 calls/day navigated during the COVID surge and 100 calls per day during normal operations through its functional emergency operations center, put-up an advance medical post resulting in an increase of Emergency Department absorbance capacity by 200%, implemented successful Covid-19 Action Plan, 11,694 consults catered from the e-Konsulta program, 20 LGUs assisted in the expansion of their primary care services, upgraded information technology and hospital information system, and established a Center for Health Systems Development intending to become the center for knowledge and innovations in health systems and development in the region.
ITRMC Medical Center Chief, Dr. Eduardo M. Badua III, said that the institution’s accomplishments were due to the dedication and unity of the men and women who worked towards the achievement of the hospital’s goals and objectives.
“May this award serve as an inspiration to make ITRMC a genuinely people-centered organization,” he stated.
In March 2019, ITRMC enrolled in the PGS four-stage pathway program of ISA, a framework for transformation that empowers institutions to deliver breakthrough results.
It contributes to national development and inclusive growth by guiding institutions through a four-stage pathway designed to create, execute, and sustain effective transformation strategies.
ITRMC passed the Initiation Stage last June 27, 2019.
