Kagawad running for bgy chairman gunned down in Nueva Ecija

RIDING-IN-TANDEM gunmen on Monday shot dead a barangay kagawad running for barangay captain in this year’s elections in San Leonardo, Nueva Ecija.
Slain was Jerry Lopez, 55, barangay councilman, of Bgy. Magpapalayok, this municipality.
Lopez was driving his tricycle when shot from behind by two unidentified men on another motorcycle in Bgy. Tambo Adorable at 5:15 p.m. on Monday.
A special investigation task group to solve the killing was immediately formed by provincial director Col. Richard V. Caballero.
The victim was on his way to a meeting with his newly-formed barangay team when killed.
Five spent shells for cal. .45 were recovered at the crime scene.
An investigation is ongoing.
