THE “Lab For All” Caravan, a major project of First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos together in collaboration with the Department of Health and other national government agencies (NGAs) visited the province of La Union bringing free health services to around 1,312 patients, mostly senior citizens and underserved residents of communities particularly those in GIDAs held at the La Union Convention Hall in San Fernando City on February 6, 2023.
The “Lab for All” is an outreach physical and medical examination including laboratory tests and was officially launched in Ilocos Region on September 12, 2023, at the Ilocos Norte Centennial Arena in Laoag City together with Health Secretary Teodoro Herbosa and was then rolled out in all of the provinces of Ilocos – Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, Pangasinan and La Union.
Regional Director Paula Paz M. Sydiongco expressed her gratitude to the First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos her support in providing better primary health care services to all Filipinos.
Since the start of the “Lab for All”, the regional office has distributed assistive devices to identified beneficiaries such as wheelchairs, foldable walkers, crutches, canes and walkers both for pedia and adults
Among the health and medical services that were given were consultations, x-ray, laboratory services, ENT, pediatrics, surgery, vaccination, eye check-ups, obstetrics, gynecology, ECG, and complementary medicines.
Mobile laboratories and dental buses from the Ilocos Training and Regional Medical Center, Conrado F. Estrella Trauma and Medical Center, Corelife, SM Foundation and the provincial government of La Union also provided medical services.
Other logistics supplied were oral health packages, FP commodities, nutribox, buntis kits herbmap, assorted spectacles.
Barangay health station (BHS) packages consisting of a dressing cart, minor surgical set, mechanical bed, spine board, EENT (eyes, ears, nose, tongue) diagnostic set, weighing scale with BMI calculator, weighing scale for infant, fetal doppler and examining table, medicine cabinet, and instrument cabinet were also distributed to selected communities.
“Makakaasa po ang mga residente ng rehiyon na ipagpapatuloy po namin ang pagbibigay ng serbisyong pangkalusugan at dadalhin po namin ito sa mga iba’t-ibang probinsya to ensure that health services will reach everyone in the communities,” Sydiongco assured.
