Laguna ABC president arrested for high-powered guns, ammunition

AN ABC president on Monday was arrested after operatives of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group seized several high-powered firearms and ammunition during the implementation of a search warrant at 505 Purok 6, Bgy. Masaya, Bay, Laguna.

Nabbed was Angelito De Mesa, the incumbent ABC president of Bay, Laguna.

Confiscated during the operation were one cal. 5.56 mm (M16) rifle colt with scope suppresor, one cal. 9mm machine pistol, one unit of caliber pistol (colt M1911), 85 rounds of live ammunition for cal. 5.56, 15 rounds of live ammunition for cal.. 45, 20 rounds of live ammunition for cal. 9mm. magazines for ca. 5.56, two pieces magazine for cal. .45, and one magazine for cal. .9mm.

The search warrant was issued against the suspect by Hon. Agripino R. Bravo, Executive Judge of the Lucena City Regional Trial Court for violation of Republic Act 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.

De Mesa and the confiscated pieces of evidence were brought to the CIDG Laguna Provincial Field Unit Office for documentation and proper disposition.
