LANAO del Sur Governor Datu Mamintal “Bombit” Alonto Adiong Jr. has endorsed the reelection bid of Senator Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa, citing the senator’s ties and contribution in Mindanao’s development.
“Hindi ho tayo malulugi kung iluluklok natin pabalik sa Senado. Hindi ba, ‘pag sinabi niyang, ‘itaga niyo sa Bato,’ totoo po ‘yon. Ipinaglalaban niya ‘yung karapatan ng taga-Mindanao at ‘yung mga inaapi sa ating mga kababayan sa buong Pilipinas, sa Lanao Del Sur,” Adiong said during the 64th Araw ng Wao Kariyala Festival in Wao, Lanao del Sur.
Adiong acknowledged Dela Rosa for relating himself to the people of Lanao del Sur, especially to the students and alumni of his alma mater — Mindanao State University (MSU).
Speaking at the festival, Dela Rosa hailed Wao for its diversity and vowed to his fellow Mindanaoans that he will work better to ensure that peace will last in the region.
“Itong Wao, this is a melting pot, melting pot of all people, of all tribes… This is the perfect example of how we unite. Kahit meron tayong diversity, diverse ang ating culture, diverse ang ating backgrounds pero naka-unite tayong lahat para maabot ang peace and order sa ating lugar,” Dela Rosa said.
“As your chairman sa Senate Committee on Public Order and Dangerous Drugs, ako’y nagtatrabaho ng husto doon sa Senado para makagawa tayo ng mga polisiya para sa huli, makamtan natin permanently ang public order, mawala ang problema sa droga, at para sa national defense at security. ‘Yan ang aking mga tinututukan dito sa Senado. So ako ay nakikiusap sa inyo na ako’y ibalik sana ninyo sa Senado,” he added.
Apart from the committee on public order, Dela Rosa is also leading the Senate Special Committee on Marawi City Rehabilitation and Victim’s Compensation.
In January, the Mindanaoan lawmaker sponsored in the Senate plenary the bill increasing the number of barangays in the war-stricken Marawi City, Lanao del Sur that will receive compensation from the government under Republic Act 11696.
