Tablea-based products of the Mabini Tablea Food Producers Association (MABLEA) were formally launched to public to intensify promotion and penetrate wider market during the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) – Batangas’ Provincial Science and Technology Week Celebration held at Anilao Proper, Mabini, Batangas, Sept. 22.
Soroptimist International of Mabini which has been supporting the association since its formation together with the DOST-CALABARZON, Local Government Unit of Mabini, Batangas, and University of the Philippines Los Baños – Institute of Food Science and Technology, spearheaded the product launching through representation of Ms. Marissa Sandoval, Interim President, with Ms. Emelita P. Bagsit, DOST-CALABARZON Regional Director, Cong. Gerville “Jinky Bitrics” R. Luistro of the second District of Batangas, Mayor Nilo M. Villanueva of LGU-Mabini, Ms. Felina C. Malabanan, DOST-Batangas Provincial Director, and members of MABLEA.
The association has been known in the locality as the sole producer of tablea-based products such as tablea chocolate spread, tablea-peanut bar or tabnut, tablea flan (tablea-flavored leche flan), tablea-peanut butter spread, and tablea chocolate candies, and tablea balls among others. Since then, they have also been braving to spearhead the revitalization of the tablea industry in the Municipality of Mabini, Batangas through their community enterprise. Tablea cookies, tablea brownies, tablea cake, pandesal, and buns are the newest addition to their product line. These were all introduced to public during the launching.
Cong. Luistro stressed her commitment to strengthen the marketing of MABLEA products and unfold more of their potentials to become known as premium tablea-based products producer not only in Mabini but in the whole country. Mayor Villanueva likewise mentioned his intention to boost the capability of the association from production up to the marketing aspect.
As the association gears up to advance their community enterprise, Director Bagsit requested Cong. Luistro and Mayor Villanueva to harmonize approaches on introducing MABLEA products not only to locales of Mabini, Batangas but also to foreign tourists visiting the famous divespots and beaches of the municipality.
MABLEA is a recipient of the DOST-Batangas Grants-in-Aid Community-based Project, various technology trainings, and other technical assistance from DOST since 2018.
