GOVERNOR Humerlito “Bonz” Dolor of Oriental Mindoro on Saturday appealed to the insurance company to give the advance payment for the victims of the oil spill that hit the province.
Dolor said those who have completed their application, especially the towns where the fishing ban has been lifted, should be given at least an advance payment to recover from their loses brought by the oil spill.
The governor said claim processors of the Shipowners’ Club Insurance Company were assigned to process the application.
According to May Valles, one of the insurance claim processors, those from the affected barangays in the seven towns in Oriental Mindoro have already filed insurance claims.
Among them were fishermen from Calapan, Naujan, Bansud, Bongabong, Pinamalayan, Gloria, and Pola.
Valles said they are processing approximately 10,000 application forms.
Valles added that they are still accepting applications in Semirara Island.
