TWO alleged pimps were arrested while nine were rescued by agents of the National Bureau of Investigation
in an entrapment operation in GMA, Cavite.
Nabbed were Rodel Miranda alias “Gigzo,” and Jesus Manuel Genio alias “Buboy.”
The NBI-Cybercrime Division (NBI-CCD) launched the operation after a tipster reported that a social media account under the name “Gizgo Anap Reyes” was being used as an online front to traffic children and adults.
The NBI-CCD conducted online surveillance, which revealed that the social media account was involved in prostitution, as it posted several pictures of girls being offered for paid sexual services.
Undercover agents of the NBI-CCD were able to transact with “Gigzo.” The suspect transported several girls to an apartelle in GMA, Cavite.
Operatives arrested Miranda after receiving the marked money. Also caught was his companion Genio.
The operation likewise resulted in the rescue of nine trafficked victims who are now under the supervision and care of local social workers.
Charges for violation of Republic Act 9208 or the Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act of 2003, as amended in relation to Republic Act 10175 were filed against the arrested suspects.
